Day 4. A "rest day". Struggled with a head cold
After two years cold free, I choose to get one this week! Started as a sore throat yesterday and turned into a drippy nose later on. That and a dry cough impede the cycling somewhat! I'm hoping it'll be short lived. On the bright side, my stomach has now calmed down!
A late start today (10am) as it is a short day of only 52 miles. Spent some of this time finding the local pharmacies in search of tissues. Only a few stock them. End up having to buy a whole box.
Enjoy a walk around the town though as it has some wonderful medieval buildings!
There don't appear to be any mini marts. Also most shops are still closed at 0930! Sacre bleau!
Cycle out with Carlo to begin with, heading over more gently rolling terrain similar to yesterday. Grey, overcast skies with a south westerly wind slowing our progress.
Find it a bit of a struggle after the first brew stop as the roads run straight for miles into a headwind. Eventually catch up with the Canadian contingent, Brian and Katie with non Canadians Seb and Edwardo. We set up a good pace together into the wind swapping the lead at regular intervals.
A picnic lunch indoors follows. A great spread put on by Isabelle and Geraint.
Weather turns damp after lunch, so it's heads down and get the drive train rolling!
Brian does a great job organising us!
Argenton-sur-creuse arrives surprisingly quickly.
Books into hotel. Shower! Relax!
Tomorrow is a BIG day, so I'm hoping my nose might stop running by then!
The stats
I hope your feeling better soon. It looks like you have a happy crew and have found some riding buddies
ReplyDeleteOh Mike, what a week to get a cold. You’ve still got plenty of spring in your step by the looks of it, and a fun group you’ve joined.
